The Bernabeu has seen an extraordinary number of goals scored over the last couple of months, and Tuesday’s visit of Roma in the last 16 of the Champions league should see another goal-filled fixture.

Los Blancos have netted 52 goals in their last 10 home matches with seven of them coming at the weekend against Celta Vigo.

Roma for their part are the top scoring side in Serie A, while they have conceded more goals in the Champions League than any other side left in the tournament, all of which means there should be plenty of scope for a goalscorer bet in this game.

Cristiano Ronaldo leads the scoring charts in the Champions League with 12 goals and in recent weeks Madrid’s number seven has been in deadly form. Paddy Power offer him at just 4/9 (1.44) to score at anytime while he can be backed at 13/5 (3.60) to open the scoring as he did when the two sides met at Stadio Olimpico three weeks ago.

Meanwhile Gareth Bale is offered at 11/10 (2.10) to find the back of the net against Roma and the Welshman could be a more attractive option given the odds. Bale made his comeback from injury at the weekend and came off the bench to score a superb goal against Celta.

The former Tottenham forward has already scored more league goals this season than in the whole of last, and is on course to register his best ever scoring campaign in a Real Madrid shirt.

With Roma likely to leave spaces as they go in search of the goals they need, Bale could well strike and the man from Cardiff looks like a decent anytime goalscorer option. Furthermore, with Karim Benzema not available Bale will become an even more integral part of the Real Madrid attack, thus increasing his chances of getting on the scoresheet.

For Roma six players are offered at 7/2 (4.50) to score at anytime with the most interesting options being Stephan El Shaarawy and Mohammed Salah. El Shaarawy is enjoying his time in the Italian capital having netted five goals in six Serie A matches, while Salah has been an inspired loan signing from Chelsea.

The 23-year-old is the team’s top scorer with 11 league goals and one in the Champions League, and his pace can cause problems for any defence.

Salah’s decision making can let him down at times, but if there is a Roma player capable of finding the back of the net at the Bernabeu it is the Egypt international.
