ASUU Strike: ASUU Lists Conditions To Suspend Strike

The Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU) has disclosed that they will continue with their strike until the federal government meet their demands.

ASUU has embarked on an indefinite strike since March 2020 as the strike has now enters its seventh month.

The union said it will only suspend the strike if the federal government pays their withheld salaries and completes the negotiations of what lead to the strike.

This was disclosed by the union’s Zonal coordinator Prof Ade Adejumo while speaking with newsmen on Wednesday in the University of Ibadan.

He said, “We are ready to suspend the strike if the government pays our withheld salaries and completes the negotiations that led to the strike. Our children too are tired of staying at home but we cannot work on empty stomachs while politicians’ homes and warehouses are filled with palliative materials that they don’t even need”.

The union also accused the federal government of using hunger to suppress it members as the federal government refused to pay lectures who are not on IPPIS their salaries.
